Looke for whitebook or laptop barebone. They are available everywhere and everything that contains the drive, the display / cover, and the motherboard.
Clevo is good and has Compal, and MSI and ASUS. Everyone does it, but Barebone Cleves and Compal many companies such as Dell, Alienware, Compaq, and more. The following model numbers som: Clevo M570U, D900K, and so on.

Wow, it is a difficult exercise. I do not know how it will be possible either. Many internal parts are not standard sizes and adapted to the manufacturer's own data (dimensions of the housing, etc..) But this is an excellent idea, I would like to see the day. Maybe you should document progress and display it on the website.
You can not build, like laptops. The only things that upgraged in laptops are network cards and RAM. Aleinware laptops you can upgrade your video card, but thats about it.
You can buy laptops on eBay and with better motherboards that we build, and switch between them when they are the same model.
Otherwise it is hacking / Moding ...

There's nothing like a custom built laptop. Do not waste your time. Notebooks are not built like the desktop.
The Board develops and components for laptops, a model of laptop. We do not choose a case and then decide what type motherboard, video card, battery and other components for your laptop.
